After completing my term of service as a U.S. Navy Deep Sea Diver, I began my studies
at Schenectady County Community College in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), a field that would send me,
so I thought, into a career as an engineer. My senior project in NDT was inspecting Kevlar for flaws
using One Sided Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Testing. The experiments for that project were conducted at
General Electric’s Corporate Research and Development Center, (GE CR&D).
Upon graduating, the scientists at GE CR&D offered me a job that I gladly accepted since
oil rig diving was not an option. While there, I was honored to receive a patent as co-inventor for a
remote means of optical sensing in x-ray microscopy. I remained in their employ for a three-year period,
during which my interest as a future engineer changed and I decided to become a healthcare
professional.
I enrolled at New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) in the fall of 1990. Initially my interest was in
Applied Kinesiology (AK) and I was active as the AK Club President. I was also involved in the school
paper and was Vice President of the Student Government. I became interested in energy or frontier
medicine in my last year and a half at NYCC. I completed a twelve-month certificate elective in
Meridian Therapy.
Upon graduation from NYCC, I continued to pursue additional training. The chiropractic techniques
were Contact Reflex Analysis, (CRA); Total Body Modification, (TBM), and Neuro-Emotional Technique,
(NET), all derivatives of AK.
I discovered early on that the less force I used, the better the results were in my patients. I
also became proficient in CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release, taught by the Upledger
Institute. Continuing with the same thought that less is better. I also pursued training in Reiki,
achieving the level of Teaching Reiki Master, and completed training with Healing Touch International,
enhancing the energetic techniques that I began while at NYCC. I also completed a certificate program in
Transpersonal Counseling to be better prepared to handle the emotions that were being released by my
patients.
Current
I am in private practice in Tucson, Arizona where I also have contracts with the Pascua Yaqui
Nation, the Tohono O’odham Nation, and Southern Arizona’s Veterans Health Care System. Volunteer
Service Provider; Merritt Retreat Center Program for returning combat Veteran’s, in Payson Arizona.
I began developing Autonomic Body Therapy (ABT) shortly after moving to Tucson in 2006. ABT is
the synthesis of Meridian, Myo-Therapy, and Mind Body Therapies. I taught my first course in ABT in 2010 at
one of the local acupuncture schools and I am implementing steps to take this training internationally.
I would also like to introduce ABT to Indigenous Communities across the globe as well as populations
that are medically under served.
I continue to look to enhance my skills and I am exploring certifications in Medical Qi Gong as
well as expanding my knowledge of Native American Medicine Ways and ethnobotany.
